News editors obtained the following quote from the background information suppli ed by the inventors: “Conventional autonomous floor cleaning systems are limited in their capabilities. Due to the lack of capabilities, the autonomous floor cl eaning systems only provide rudimentary cleaning solutions. Without the use of a plurality of sensors and better algorithms, the autonomous floor cleaning syste ms are unable to adapt to efficiently clean a variety of messes with optimal mob ility and require manual adjustment to complete cleaning tasks. For example, con ventional autonomous floor cleaning systems use cleaning heads to improve cleani ng efficiency by agitating and loosening dirt, dust, and debris. If the cleaning head of a vacuum or sweeper is too low, the autonomous floor cleaning system ma y be unable to move over an obstacle or may damage the floor, and if the cleanin g head is too high, the autonomous floor cleaning system may miss some of the me ss. Even if a user manually sets the cleaning head at an optimal height, mobilit y of the cleaning head within the environment without getting stuck may be sacri ficed for cleaning efficacy, which may still be nonoptimal for a variety of surf ace types and messes in the environment.
