The following quote was obtained by the news editors from the background informa tion supplied by the inventors: “Tanks such as reactor tanks or vessels often ne ed to be cleaned, inspected or otherwise accessed internally. However, such tank s are a confined space in which to work, may be relatively large, difficult to a ccess via a top inspection hatch and often contain hazardous substances. Such ta nks may include a catalyst or other material that needs to be removed and/or cha nged. “The cleaning, inspection and related maintenance activities of such tanks may b e highly hazardous and therefore presents a problem of endangering the lives of involved personnel. Another problem relates to the efficiency and effectiveness of cleaning, inspecting or maintaining such tanks due to the size, access diffic ulties and hazardous substances.
