Abstract

Reporters obtained the following quote from the background information supplied by the inventors: “Telemedicine systems enable doctors, nurses, and other health care providers to interact with patients who are not physically present, via pho ne, videoconference, or other means. This has become a more accessible option as increasing numbers of people carry video chat enabled smartphones, web cam-equi pped personal computers, etc. Any distractions between the provider and the pati ent during the call can lead to a poor call experience as well as misdiagnoses a nd misunderstandings. As such, video and audio quality are important in such int eractions to ensure clear communications between the health care provider and th e patient. Additionally, the doctor is limited to the information that the patie nt can describe or show using their electronic device. As such, the patient need s to be able to effectively capture images of whatever ailment they are experien cing in sufficient detail for the doctor to make a proper diagnosis.
