Reporters obtained the following quote from the background information supplied by the inventors: “Conventional secure document infrastructure (e.g., electronic documents configured to accept legally binding signatures) are subject to bloat that hampers storage and bandwidth constraints and requires a high amount of avoidable back-and-forth network use. For example, certain types of secure document envelopes often require identity verification, which launch workflows where users are required to input information, upload high resolution images of identity documents, and the like. Some activities in these workflows are unnecessary where they are duplicative, where, while a requesting party may not have previously verified the identity of a user, a secure document service may have previously verified the user’s identity in accordance with whatever standard is required.”
