Abstract

News editors obtained the following quote from the background information suppli ed by the inventors: “The increasing reliance of modern industry on artificial i ntelligence has resulted in a growing demand for specialized microprocessors tha t perform the tensor calculations (such as vector-matrix and matrix-matrix multi plications) important to many artificial intelligence techniques such as gradien t descent techniques for the training of artificial neural networks, the results of which are used for inferencing which also involves tensor calculations. Some of these processors perform over one trillion floating point operations (terafl ops) per second, which not surprisingly, require large amounts of power.
