Abstract
By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Robotics & Machine Learning Daily News Daily News-From Alexandria, Virginia, NewsRx jour nalists report that a patent by the inventors Shelton, IV, Frederick E. (Hillsbo ro, OH, US), Yates, David C. (West Chester, OH, US), filed on December 29, 2020, was published online on May 28, 2024. The patent's assignee for patent number 11992257 is Cilag GmbH International (Zu g, Switzerland). News editors obtained the following quote from the background information suppli ed by the inventors: "A variety of ultrasonic surgical instruments include an en d effector having a blade element that vibrates at ultrasonic frequencies to cut and/or seal tissue (e.g., by denaturing proteins in tissue cells). These instru ments include one or more piezoelectric elements that convert electrical power i nto ultrasonic vibrations, which are communicated along an acoustic waveguide to the blade element. Examples of ultrasonic surgical instruments and related conc epts are disclosed in U.S. Pub. No. 2006/0079874, entitled "Tissue Pad for Use w ith an Ultrasonic Surgical Instrument," published Apr. 13, 2006, now abandoned, the disclosure of which is incorporated by reference herein, in its entirety; U. S. Pub. No. 2007/0191713, entitled "Ultrasonic Device for Cutting and Coagulatin g," published Aug. 16, 2007, now abandoned, the disclosure of which is incorpora ted by reference herein, in its entirety; and U.S. Pub. No. 2008/0200940, entitl ed "Ultrasonic Device for Cutting and Coagulating," published Aug. 21, 2008, now abandoned, the disclosure of which is incorporated by reference herein, in its entirety.
