The following quote was obtained by the news editors from the background informa tion supplied bythe inventors: “A remote controlled demolition robot has a vari ety of control options such as controllinga hydraulically driven tool, arm mean s, propulsion means and outriggers. All these different controloptions are assi gned to two control levers (joysticks) and a few buttons and controls on a remot econtrol unit. In order for an operator to be able to use all the control optio ns, they are divided intodifferent selectable modes, so-called operating modes (driving modes) where the controls control differentmovements depending on whic h operating mode the demolition robot is working in. This makes it possiblefor an operator to control all the functions of the demolition robot with essentiall y only two control levers.
