Nos. 4,684,113 and 5,722,646. In the case of U.S. Pat.No. 4,684,113 multiple workpiece engaging rods are actuated by motor driven screws, while wit h U.S.Pat. No. 5,722,646 multiple workpiece engaging rods are actuated fluidica lly. Substantially all universaltooling systems utilized in the aerospace indus try for holding contoured workpieces are based on one ofthese types of active s ystems.
