Reporters obtained the following quote from the background information supplied by the inventors:“There remains a need for improved printing tools for use in t hree-dimensional printers.”In addition to obtaining background information on this patent, NewsRx editors a lso obtained the inventors’summary information for this patent: “An extruder or other similar tool head of a three-dimensionalprinter is slidably mounted alon g a feedpath of build material so that the extruder can move into and outof con tact with a build surface according to whether build material is being extruded. The extruder maybe spring-biased against the forward feedpath so that the extr uder remains above the build surface in theabsence of applied forces, and then moves downward into a position for extrusion when build material isfed into the extruder.
