According to newsreporting out of La Jolla, California , by NewsRx editors, research stated, “Passive acoustic monitoring isan essenti al tool for studying beaked whale populations. This approach can monitor elusive and pelagicspecies, but the volume of data it generates has overwhelmed resear chers’ ability to quantify speciesoccurrence for effective conservation and man agement efforts.”
