“The present invention relates to a 6-axis positioning system, comprising a base , a movable unit andsix variable-length actuators, one end of each actuator bei ng connected to the base and the other end ofeach actuator being connected to t he movable unit. At least one additional variable-length componentis provided, one end of which is connected to the base and the other end of which is connecte d tothe movable unit. The additional component is designed such that the 6-axis positioning system can bereleasably locked at least in certain positions of th e movable unit by means of the additional component.
