News editors obtained the following quote from the background information suppli ed by the inventors:““Field“The present invention relates to systems and methods for monitoring temperature s of an externalcasing of a rotary kiln in order to model the internal coating that forms on the brick layer in the kiln. Theinternal coating is from the mate rial being processed in the rotary kiln, which forms a coating layer on thebric k. The systems and methods can determine the presence of the internal coating an d thickness of thecoating layer that is on the brick layer based on historical IR data of the kiln. Additionally, the systems andmethods can determine the rat e of change of the thickness of the coating layer, such as the correspondingcoa ting region associated with each brick in the brick layer or external casing reg ion. In some aspects,the present invention relates to infrared imaging systems and methods for detecting temperature variationsat defined locations of a rotar y kiln, which correlate radially to a particular internal coating region.
