Abstract
Reporters obtained the following quote from the background information supplied by the inventors:“Seismic well ties provide a link between subsurface propertie s directly measured at a wellbore and dataobtained through seismic sounding. We ll logs are measured in a depth domain and seismic data is measuredin a time do main; therefore, a depth-time conversion relationship is determined to perform c onversionsbetween the domains. Methods of determining the depth-time conversion relationship include, but are notlimited to, checkshot surveying and vertical seismic profiling (VSP). When checkshots and a VSP are notavailable, the depth- time conversion relationship can be computed using sonic measurements from welllogging.
