According to newsoriginating from Chengdu, People’s Rep ublic of China, by NewsRx correspondents, research stated, “Thevortex-induced v ibrations (VIVs) can cause severe consequences for long-span bridges, including structuralfatigue, human-body comfort and vehicle safety, and become significan t issues in terms of thewind-resistance. Currently, estimations of VIV amplitud es are typically based on wind tunnel tests, fieldmonitoring, computational flu id dynamics and theoretical models.”
