The pallet has supplante d older forms of crating, such as thewooden box and the wooden barrel, as it wo rks well with modern packaging like corrugated boxes andintermodal containers c ommonly used for bulk shipping. While most pallets are wooden, pallets can alsobe made of plastic, metal, paper, and recycled materials.
