Abstract

From the background information supplied by the inventors, news correspondents o btained the followingquote: “Soft robots use intrinsically soft and extensible materials which allow for large and continuum-likedeformation throughout the ro bot body. The reconfigurablity of soft robots allows them to bend anddeform to adapt to their environment. For example, by implementing continuously bendable s tructuresinside the soft robot body, soft robotic grippers can easily adapt the ir curvature to the target object, orsoft mobile robots can adapt body stiffnes s to optimize for effective locomotive forces.”
