In the so-c alled flow-form screwing, a screw-like bolt is rotated about its longitudinal ax is with a highrotational speed and is at the same time set into the components by means of a linear setting movement.The rotation about the longitudinal axis of the screw-like bolt leads to a softening of the componentmaterial. After hav ing set the screw-like bolt into the softened material, the softened material co ols downand assumes a shape predetermined by the outer thread shape of the bolt . With this method, which usesa combination of a rotation movement and a straig ht-lined setting movement, joining speeds of up to 40m/s are reached.
