Typically, to chargebatteries for such electric vehicles, th e user drives the vehicle to a charging location where a power cordor other con nector is available to connect the vehicle’s battery to a source of power. Once connected, thepower source recharges the battery, usually over a period of time measured in hours (e.g., 4-8 hours for aconventional forklift, golf cart, or a utomobile). After charging is complete, the vehicle can be driven awayfor furth er use. If the vehicle is a robotic shuttle such as an Automatic Guided Vehicle (AGV) in a so-calledDark Warehouse or other location, the vehicle’s sensors and controls work in concert with the system’ssensors and controls to drive the ve hicle on its working route and to and from the charging location.
