The following quote was obtained by the news editors from the background informa tion supplied by theinventors: “Under-display cameras (UDCs) are being used in various mobile electronic devices and otherelectronic devices, such as smartpho nes and tablet computers. An under-display camera refers to a camerapositioned underneath a display of an electronic device. Often times, an under-display came ra can be usedas a forward-facing camera to capture still or video images of a user of an electronic device. This approachhelps to obscure the camera and redu ce or eliminate the need to include circular, pill-shaped, notched, orother cut outs in a display. Due to optical diffraction and noise generated by having a di splay in front ofa camera lens, image restoration is performed in order to impr ove the quality of images captured by anunder-display camera.”
