The following quote was obtained by the news editors from the background informa tion supplied bythe inventors: “Conventionally, as one of processing apparatuse s for meat animals, a deboning device forremoving ribs from a block meat of a s laughtered animal such as a cow, a pig or a sheep has been used.“As such a conventional deboning device, a thickness, a width of a rib adhered t o a block meatprepared, and a distance between the ribs are measured, A robot a rm is operated on the basis of themeasured data so a gap is provided on both si des of each rib by two cutters which are arranged to freely expand and contract by a spring at the tip of the robot arm. Then, a rib peeling unit which is const itutedby a nylon pull thread between two side plates provided with predetermine d interval arranged on otherrobot arm is hooked on an end part of each rib and slid to the other end side. The rib peeling unit isadvanced along an incision s o that ribs are peeled from the meat (see Patent document 1).
