Abstract

The following quote was obtained by the news editors from the background informa tion supplied bythe inventors: “Regarding the conventional box-in-box insertion task, it is performed manually and relieson the haptics and touch-based operat ions by the operator. It is flexible while using manual operationto perform the box-in-box insertion task because the manual operation can handle the uncertain ty of theenvironment, such as the position relationship between the boxes or di fferences in box material and boxsize. Furthermore, during the manual operation , the insertion angle or process may be adjusted at anytime while the environme nt factors (e.g., encountering obstacles) change.
