Abstract
News editors obtained the following quote from the background information suppli ed by the inventors:“The most straightforward choice for an environment sensor for a robot system is an electronic camera.However, these provide information r elating to the position of objects in the environment only in twodimensions per pendicular to a line of sight of the camera, but not along the line of sight its elf. Therefore,U.S. Pat. No. 9,310,608 B2 proposes a robotic system in which in formation relating to the distance of objects in the vicinity of a robotic vehic le is obtained using laser scanners. Using a first laser scannerscanning a hori zontal plane, it is possible to distinguish whether an object is in a warning zo ne or in asafety zone, closer to the scanner. Since objects outside the horizon tal plane aren’t detected by the firstlaser scanner, a second laser scanner is provided whose beam, in the course of one scan, is successivelydeflected by sev eral mirrors, each mirror thus defining an auxiliary detection plane which is in clined withrespect to the horizontal plane.
