The most common MIS proceduremay be endosc opy, and the most common form of endoscopy is laparoscopy, in which one or more smallincisions are formed in the abdomen of a patient and a trocar is inserted through the incision to form apathway that provides access to the abdominal cav ity. The cannula and sealing system of the trocar areused to introduce various instruments and tools into the abdominal cavity, as well as to provide insufflation to elevate the abdominal wall above the organs.
