Reporters obtained the following quote from the background information supplied by the inventors:“More particularly, the field of the invention relates to equi pment used to perform maintenance operationson a 20-high type rolling mill. For example, a 20-high rolling mill is known from the prior documentsU.S. Pat. Nos . 5,193,377 and 5,471,859. In such a rolling mill, the rolls (and sets of backup rollers)are distributed into a lower group GI and an upper group Gs, and according to a symmetric configurationwith respect to a running plane of the metal strip to be rolled. For example, FIG. 5 of the document U.S.Pat. No. 5,193,377 illustrates the upper group with a work roll, two first intermediate r olls, three secondintermediate rolls, and four sets of backup rollers.
