Abstract

The following quote was obtained by the news editors from the background informa tion supplied bythe inventors: “In biomedical research, biological processes ar e monitored using imaging systems, suchas microscopes. In many research methodo logies, hypotheses are tested by observing such biologicalprocesses over time, and using the observations to conclude whether the observations match the respective hypotheses. In general, this monitoring of the biological processes can be improved, and, to a degree,automated, by evaluating the observations with the h elp of an image analysis workflow, which is usedto analyze various aspects of t he image data showing the biological process. However, designing suchan image a nalysis workflow may require a substantial amount of skill from the operator of the respectiveimaging system.
