By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Robotics & Machine Learning DailyNews Daily News – Researchers led by Cranfield Universit y have developed new ways to detect sugar syrupadulteration in honey, paving th e way for fast and accurate tests to discover fake products.There is growing consumer demand for honey, with £89.8 million worth of honey im ported to the UKin 2023. But as a high-value product it is vulnerable to fraud, with syrups added to dilute the pure honey- a report from the European Commiss ion in 2023 found 46% of 147 honey samples tested were likely toh ave been adulterated with cheap plant syrups.
