Abstract
The following quote was obtained by the news editors from the background informa tion supplied bythe inventors: “Robots can be broadly divided into a legged rob ot capable of walking motion using aleg-shaped structure and a wheeled robot ca pable of driving motion using wheels. However, the leggedrobot can have a probl em in that it moves on the flat ground at a low speed and thus has poor energy use efficiency, and the wheeled robot can have a problem in that driving performa nce can be significantlydeteriorated in an environment such as stairs or rough terrain. Therefore, in order to make up for thepotential disadvantages of the l egged robot and the wheeled robot, a movable object including a wheelassembly h aving a form in which the advantages of the two types of robots are integrated i s beingdeveloped.
