Abstract
By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Robotics & Machine Learning Daily News Daily News-New research on virtual reality and in telligent hardware is the subject of a new report. According to news reporting f rom Berkeley, California, by NewsRx journalists, research stated, "With the deve lopment of virtual reality (VR) technology, there is a growing need for customiz ed 3D avatars." Our news reporters obtained a quote from the research from University of Califor nia Berkeley: "However, traditional methods for 3D avatar modeling are either ti me-consuming or fail to retain the similarity to the person being modeled. This study presents a novel framework for generating animatable 3D cartoon faces from a single portrait image. First, we transferred an input real-world portrait to a stylized cartoon image using StyleGAN. We then proposed atwo-stage reconstruc tion method to recover a 3D cartoon face with detailed texture. Our two-stage st rategy initially performs coarse estimation based on template models and subsequ ently refines the model by nonrigid deformation under landmark supervision. Fina lly, we proposed a semantic-preserving face-rigging method based on manually cre ated templates and deformation transfer."
