The following quote was obtained by the news editors from the background informa tion supplied by the inventors: “Computing devices increasingly utilize applicat ion-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) to provide customized functionality in various applications, such as high-performance computing, artificial intelligenc e, graphics applications, and cryptocurrency mining. However, due to inherent va riances in silicon manufacturing technology, it is not guaranteed that multiple ASICs will have identical characteristics. In particular, different ASICs may ex hibit different performance and power behaviors in operation, thus making it cha llenging to achieve optimal power and performance in multi-ASIC systems.
