News editors obtained the following quote from the background information suppli ed by the inventors: “Certain patients are placed on medication regimens with ce rtain drug dose and delivery intervals. Such prescribed dose and delivery interv als can be fulfilled by delivering the drugs through vials having predetermined drug quantities. The combination of vials used to deliver the prescribed dose an d interval can result in drug waste by delivering more of the drug than is actua lly needed or prescribed.”
