According to news reporting out of Milan, Italy, by NewsRx editors, research stated, “Hybrid systems that integrate Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) a nd robotic assistance have been proposed in neurorehabilitation to enhance thera peutic benefits. This study focuses on designing a cooperative controller capabl e of distributing the required torque for movement between robotic actuation and FES, thereby eliminating the need for time-consuming calibration procedures.” Financial support for this research came from Istituto Nazionale per l’assicuraz ione contro gli Infortuni sul Lavoro (INAIL), Italy.
