The following quote was obtained by the news editors from the background informa tion supplied by the inventors: “Image processing techniques have difficulty pro cessing documents. In addition to failing to recognize words and characters, ima ge processing techniques fail to identify key fields of information. This may co nsume additional processing resources (e.g., CPU cycles, processing time, etc.) to recognize the key fields of information.
