Abstract
News editors obtained the following quote from the background information suppli ed by the inventors: “A training dataset is imbalanced if it contains a larger p roportion of a particular class. State of the art machine learning (ML) models a re often excessively biased towards predicting the majority (i.e. most frequent) class. This problem is compounded for multiclass classification datasets that a re highly imbalanced. Herein, there are two distinct kinds of classification. Bi nary classification has only two classes from which one class is predicted. Mult iclass classification instead has more than two classes from which one class is predicted. Herein, classification and prediction may be synonyms. Herein multicl ass or multiple classes means three or more classes. Herein, two classes is not multiclass.
