The patent’s assignee for patent number 12066564 is Bastille Networks Inc. (Atla nta, Georgia, United States). News editors obtained the following quote from the background information suppli ed by the inventors: “In 2016, an individual in the US Embassy in Havana, Cuba, experienced acute severe pain and a sensation of intense pressure in the face, a loud piercing sound in one ear with directional features, and acute disequilibr ium and nausea. Multiple similar cases of acute physiological response occurred for other Embassy personnel in Cuba. These cases first came to the public’s atte ntion in 2017, but the cause remained unknown. In some cases, these symptoms are a result of a direct energy pulsed microwave radio frequency (RF) attack.”
