Abstract
Reporters obtained the following quote from the background information supplied by the inventors: “Security is an important component of private and public life with complicated constraints and consequences. Private consumers may have resou rces for human or mechanized surveillance that nevertheless proves ineffective f or lack of actual or perceived capacity to address adverse situations or manage conflict. For example, a private security guard may encounter a bad actor commit ting a bad act but lack legal rights and/or tools, such as a weapon, to arrest t he act or actor. Knowing this, the actor may disregard security personnel entrea ties or even select private targets because of this apparent low risk. Private s ecurity consumers would like to at least appear more capable of countering unwan ted encroachments.
