Wuxi University Researcher Yields New Data on Robotics (Path planning of mobile robot based on improved PRM and APF)

By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Robotics & Machine Learning Daily News – Investigators publish new report on robotics.Acc ording to news reporting out of Wuxi, People’s Republic of China, by NewsRx edit ors, research stated, “In the field of mobile robot path planning, the artificia l potential field (APF) method has been widely researched and applied due to its intuitiveness and efficiency.”The news correspondents obtained a quote from the research from Wuxi University: “However, the APF algorithm often encounters challenges such as local minima an d unreachable goals in complex environments.To address these issues, this paper proposes innovative path planning algorithm that integrates the advantages of t he probabilistic roadmaps method (PRM), by introducing Sobol sampling and ellipt ical constraints to enhance PRM.The improved PRM not only reduces redundant nod es but also enhances the quality of sampling points.Furthermore, this paper use s the path nodes from the improved PRM as virtual target points for the APF algo rithm, and effectively solves the inherent flaws of the APF algorithm through th e segmented processing of the attractive force function and the introduction of a relative distance factor in the repulsive force function.”
