By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Robotics & Machine Learning DailyNews – Investigators publish new report on Nanotechnolog y - Photocatalytics. According to news reportingout of Tamil Nadu, India, by Ne wsRx editors, research stated, “Piezocatalysis is an emerging advancedoxidation process (AOP) that converts mechanical energy to chemical form producing reacti ve oxygen species (ROS) for mineralizing organic pollutants (OPs). Heterojunctio n-based piezocatalysis has provento be an excellent way of water remediation du e to the increased generation of ROS because of additionalpiezopotential genera ted in two catalytic materials.”Financial support for this research came from Development (MHRD) , India. Our news journalists obtained a quote from the research from the Indian Institut e of Technology(IIT) Madras, “This article systematically reviews the recent de velopments in piezocatalytic, piezophotocatalytic, and piezo-electrocatalytic h eterojunctions for treating OPs from aqueous media. Themechanism behind improvi ng ROS generation via piezopotential development under different synergistichet erojunctions was deeply analysed. The review found that the enhanced ROS generat ion in piezophotocatalyticheterojunctions was attributed to enhanced charge ca rrier separation, reduced recombination, conversion of the heterojunction from t ype-II to S-scheme heterojunction, and reducing the Schottkybarrier. For piezo- electrocatalysis, the effect of piezopotential on band position, band bending, a nd Fermilevel (FL) was discussed in detail. Furthermore, the review found that adding peroxomonosulphate (PMS)or peroxodisulphate (PDS) into the system enhanc ed reactive species generation by allowing multiplepathways for reactive specie s generation in piezocatalytic and piezo-photocatalytic heterojunctions.”
