News editors obtained the following quote from the background information suppli ed by the inventors: “This disclosure relates generally to an online concierge s ystem for supporting a shopping experience of a customer. “An online concierge system includes an online application that supports a shopp ing experience of a shopper. The application enables a shopper to view items ava ilable at a particular retail store and add items to a virtual shopping list for in-store procurement, curbside delivery, or home delivery. In applications wher e the customer directly procures the items from the retail store, the applicatio n may support the shopper by guiding the shopper to the item locations in the re tail store and tracking collection of the items from the shopping cart. In such a system, the amount of time it takes between a customer creating the shopping l ist and the customer successfully obtaining all of the desired items may be a si gnificant factor in the customer’s overall experience using the online concierge system. As such systems become increasingly prevalent, it may be important to reduce the amount taken to ultimately provide the desired items. Conversely, if a customer can pick some or all of the items more efficiently, the customer will have more time browsing elsewhere in the store to pick items where the customer’ s judgement may matter more.”
