Abstract

The following quote was obtained by the news editors from the background informa tion supplied by the inventors: “ “The present disclosure relates generally to safety systems for modular storage racks. More particularly, the present disclosure pertains to removable barriers configured to be coupled to modular storage racks. “Products frequently have the risk of falling off of storage racks, especially i n warehouse-based fulfillment centers. This becomes an even larger risk in a “go ods to person” environment where the storage racks may be moved around by a robo t, for example in automated warehouse fulfillment systems or the like. Although numerous warehouse automation systems have been developed, there remains a need to ensure that inventory containers remain accessible while remaining on the mob ile storage rack. The acceleration and deceleration of the robot and the storage racks can sometimes cause inventory to fall onto the floor. In the event that e ven a single inventory container falls from the mobile storage rack, the warehou se automation system can be delayed, and malfunctions can occur resulting in cos tly fulfillment delays.
