Abstract
Reporters obtained the following quote from the background information supplied by the inventors: “Autonomous robotic device, such as robotic devices, are increasingly used in commercial and residential establishments. Robotic devices can operate autonomously by generating a map of the environment for navigating, avoiding obstacles while performing work, and for planning a movement path. Robotic devices localize themselves within the environment to locate their position within the map of the environment. For a robotic device to function autonomously, it must be able of repeatedly determining its location in the environment after executing a movement within the environment. To execute tasks autonomously robotic devices must have a sense of their location within its surroundings, particularly to avoid repetitive tasks that have already been completed. For example, for a robotic device, a repetitive task may be cleaning an area that has already been cleaned.”
