According to newsreporting out of Xi'an, People's Repu blic of China, by NewsRx editors, research stated, "Cephalopod skinis capable o f fast color changing enabled by tunable skin transparency as well as structure color. Under thisinspiration, herein, a flexible surface with unique hierarchic al structure that integrates both transparencychange in chemical color (optical scattering) and structure coloration (optical interfering) is developed byharn essing wrinkling instability, thanks to the interfacial Au catalysis in soft lit hography."Financial support for this research came from National Natural Science Foundatio n of China.Our news journalists obtained a quote from the research from Xi'an Jiaotong Univ ersity, "As a result,a hierarchical structure in terms of wrinkled film overlai d by nano-dome array is obtained in the flexilesurface. Experiments find that s ubject to biaxial strains from 0% to 60%, the hierarc hical surface firstexperiences a transition from nontransparent to transparent owing to the flattening of the wrinkles andthen exhibits iridescence structure color shifting from blue to red."
