Controlof such a system is complex and time-consuming."Funders for this research include National Natural Science Foundation of China ( NSFC), China PostdoctoralScience Foundation.The news reporters obtained a quote from the research from the Dalian University of Technology, "Inthis study, a real-time trajectory tracking control framewor k is established based on the reduced orderextended position-based dynamics. In contrast to the common nonlinear model order reduction methodsthat require to collect a large number of data to create the motion subspace, this article's mot ion subspaceis constructed based on the model configuration and material proper ties. The linear modes of the modeland the related modal derivatives provide th e reduced order matrix, which streamlines and increases theefficiency of model construction. Then, coupled with the instantaneous optimal control, a real-time reducedorder model-based control framework of soft robots can be constructed. E xperiments on trajectory trackingof a soft manipulator are conducted to verify the accuracy and efficiency of the proposed controller."
