By a News Reporter-Staff News Editor at Robotics & Machine Learning Daily News Daily News-A new study on Robotics is now availab le. According to news reporting out of Bari, Italy, by NewsRx editors, research stated, "This paper introduces the concept of underactuated vacuum gripper (UVG),which combines two strategies, that is, underactuation and vacuum grasping. Th e idea is to achieve shape adaptation while improving grip stability by augmenti ng an underactuated gripper with suction cups." Financial supporters for this research include ERA-NET COFUND ICT AGRI-FOOD, Eur opean Union- NextGenerationEU. Our news journalists obtained a quote from the research from the Polytechnic Uni versity of Bari, "A general theory to predict the contact forces for a UVG is de veloped and used for comparison reasons with a standard underactuated counterpar t. Multibody simulations have been performed to verify the analytical model and quantitatively evaluate the performance of the system in terms of three metrics, namely, grasp stability, contact force distribution, and pull-out force."
