According to news reporting from Zibo, People's Republic of China, by NewsRx journalists, research stated, "This study presents a two-step methodology, integrating support vector machine (SVM) and n on-dominated sorting genetic algorithm II (NSGA-II) to model and optimize machin ing characteristics in laser-machined sapphire. In the first step, SVM was emplo yed to predict the machined depth and surface roughness of sapphire substrates e xposed to ultraviolet (UV) nanosecond laser pulses." Funders for this research include National Key R&D Program of China,Natural Science Foundation of Shandong Province, Taishan Scholar Programme of Shandong Province, China Scholarship Council.
