New research on Robotics is the subjec t of a report. According to news reporting originating in Brussels, Belgium, by NewsRx journalists, research stated, "A proof-of-concept system is presented for the hyphenation of spatial comprehensive three-dimensional liquid chromatograph y (3D-LC) to mass spectrometry (MS) detection via a robotic-microfluidic interfa ce. A three-dimensional fractal microflow distributor, incorporating 16 parallel RP monolithic capillary columns arranged in a 4 x 4 configuration, was connecte d to an X-Y-Z robotic system." The news reporters obtained a quote from the research from Vrije Universiteit Br ussel (VUB), "This setup facilitated the deposition of successive arrays of micr odroplets onto an MS target plate. To minimize carryover during droplet depositi on, a strategy was implemented in which the distance between the target plate an d the capillary was gradually increased during the deposition process. System-le vel variation in travel time and subsequent flow rates across parallel columns w as assessed and translated in retention alignment based on injection of a protei n standard. The successful separation of intact proteins was demonstrated throug h a parallel 4 x 4 column configuration, applying MALDI-MS detection after micro droplet spotting on an MS target plate."
