Each itemmay h ave machine readable information, such as text and/or optically or otherwise enc oded information,which can be machine read and used to route the item, e.g., vi a an automated sorting/routing systemand/or processing. To read the information for a given item, in a typical approach the items are separatedfrom one anothe r via a process known as “singulation.”
