Abstract

News editors obtained the following quote from the background information suppli ed by the inventors:“Electric vehicles have limited range and battery life and periodically need additional electrical energy.When the electric-vehicle batter ies are low or depleted, they are traditionally recharged by physicallycoupling an electrical charger to a charge port on the vehicle. Even with rapid charging , it takes at least30 minutes to partially recharge the batteries. Another appr oach is to exchange the depleted batteries with charged batteries. Battery swapp ing can be performed in minutes, but additional infrastructure andtechnology ar e needed.”
