Abstract

The patent’s assignee for patent number 12140953 is Husqvarna AB (Huskvarna, Swe den).News editors obtained the following quote from the background information suppli ed by the inventors:“Self-propelled robotic tools, such as self-propelled auton omous robotic lawnmowers, have become increasinglypopular, partly because they usually are capable of performing work which previously was mademanually. A sel f-propelled robotic tool is capable of navigating in an area in an autonomous ma nner, i.e.without the intervention of a user. The robotic tool may move in a sy stematic and/or random patternto ensure that the area is completely covered. So me robotic tools require a user to set up a border wirearound an area that defi nes the area to be operated by the robotic tool. Such robotic tools use a sensor tolocate the wire and thereby the boundary of the area to be operated. When su ch a robotic tool reaches theborder wire, the robotic tool is usually stopped a nd then operated in a direction opposite to the directionof travel that the rob otic tool had at the time of the detection of the boundary wire.
