Abstract

This patent application has not been assigned to a company or institution.The following quote was obtained by the news editors from the background informa tion supplied by theinventors: “The present disclosure relates to additive manu facturing, and, more specifically, to automated,real-time defect mitigation in additive manufacturing.“Additive manufacturing includes manufacturing techniques such as three-dimensio nal (3D) printing.In 3D printing, material is deposited layer-by-layer to creat e a component. 3D printing can be useful inapplications such as prototype manuf acturing and custom manufacturing of any number of parts. Further,3D printing c an be useful in applications requiring unique, delicate, complex, and/or interio r geometriesthat are more efficient to manufacture using 3D printing than other manufacturing techniques.
