According to news reportingoriginating in Bogota, Colombia, by NewsRx editors, the research stated, “In the natural and social sciences,it is common to use toy models-extremely simple and highly idealized representations- to understandcomplex phenomena. Some of the simple surrogate models used to und erstand opaque machine learning(ML) models, such as rule lists and sparse decis ion trees, bear some resemblance to scientific toy models.”Financial support for this research came from University of the Andes.
